Music recommendations part three: random crap.
I don't know if anyone will look through these entries since they're so massive but... at least they won't run away so there's time to look like one vid a day or something? XD I don't know. I really am sorry I'm so babbly and that I managed to somehow make these explode out of control. But hopefully you enjoyed at least bits of it? And maybe found something new you liked. I have to say, it was kind of an emotional journey for me to go through all these bands and songs now, and it did good for me since it reminded me why I love so many of these. But yeah. To the third and last part! It goes from 80s disco pop to heavy rock so it's at least very varied XD
BONEY M.
Boney M. is one of those bands I might be embarrassed loving if I wasn't past embarrassment already XD It's such basic late 70s discopop! But somehow never fails to get me into a good mood nevertheless. I found an old LP from mom and dad's collection that had some of their songs, I think Rivers of Babylon and Rasputin, and (along with Bonnie Tyler) Boney M. was the group I liked the most on those compilations. They had such weird outfits and the booklets of their CDs are full of those pictures x) I think their CD was the first one I ever bought with my own money. Oh sweet memories. Of the members, apparently Maizie was known as super-beautiful but I always thought Marcia was much prettier. And Liz is my ultimate favorite anyway, and she was the main singer. I also loved Bobby ;~;
Sunny
Sunny is a pretty typical example of their happy songs and it still never fails to make me smile. It just that. Sunny and happy!
Other recommended songs;
♥ Barbarella Fortuneteller is from their Ten Thousand Lightyears album, and it's somewhat different from the basic disco stuff they did previous to it. I really love the whole album, it has this ethereal feel to it mostly (not necessarily in this song tho), even if they sing about the year 2001 and how things'll change XD
♥ Dreadlock Holiday is one of my ultimate favorites but youtube doesn't have it, again *sigh* I found this live performance and I suppose it's doable, but if you're curious enough about the studio version, it's here.
♥ Ma Baker is one of their most known songs and one of the more badass songs too. I had never seen the video before this XD I kind of like it, but it might be because I love the song *laughs* who knows. This feels so nostalgic. Even though I definitely didn't live when this first came out XD
D'ESPAIRSRAY
I never went to their website before this and wow it looks pretty cool! haha but a smooth change in style, anyone? XD Anyways, D'espairsRay has never been a band I would've paid extra attention to, I can't even tell the members of the group apart from each other and don't remember their names or anything. But I bought Mirror a few months back and when I listened to the album, I was quite blown away. I knew they were good, but I only then realized how good XD I'm sad that they're apparently disbanding ;~; Although the official website says it's a "hiatus" still.
Trickster
This is from Mirror and I just picked a song that happened to have a video since I truly enjoy the whole album fully. I kind of wish I would've seen them live since they were in Finland too. It's pretty basic rock, actually. (and as a side-note, I always found it stupid to label bands according to the country they originate from, since c'mon, this really is basic rock even if it's from Japan)
Other recommended songs;
♥ Born is one of the first songs I ever heard from them since a friend of mine was a fan way back when I wasn't yet paying them any attention at all. I remember watching the video with her and talking about how weird it is that all Japanese bands have western women in their videos XD I thought already then that the song is catchy and when I started listening to them more it was the first song I went back to.
DIMMU BORGIR
I have to admit I only own Spiritual Black Dimensions and I never bought another album from them even if I really want to have (the re-issue of) Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. The old Dimmu isn't for me, and the newest works don't really draw me in, either. But those two albums I enjoy genuinely, and I remember using them as flatmate-repel when our Lithuanian flatmate started to get overly annoying XD Dimmu was the only band that could drown out her crappy techno! Anyhow, Dimmu is getting more and more symphonic and that's why many "true black metal" fans don't like them at all, but I think it's kind of cool how their songs are so grand, so epic and so... huge. And they're also a fan of huge words XD From Dimmu I learned many grand words x)
Fear and Wonder
I am aware that this is so not a typical song for them and thus might be considered a bad choice, but I have my reasons. This is an instrumental piece and it's so beautiful I can't even describe it really. People who say black metal musicians are useless and that they know nothing about music have obviously never listened to the genre. It's melodies like this that draw me into listening to Dimmu for example, not necessarily the growling vocals or the overly aggressive lyrics or whatever. I adore this song.
Other recommended songs;
♥ Reptile is my absolute favorite of the more typical Dimmu songs. I always loved Vortex (here the blond guy on top of Sagrath, the singer) and his voice in the background, and even when I saw them live in Tuska he really impressed me. The guy might be a prick but he can sing XD And as a side-note, I really like the lyrics to the song too but it doesn't mean I agree with them 110%. I believe one can like lyrics even if they aren't the same thing one believes in.
(and from Dimmu I could recommend Mourning Palace and Puritania too, for example)
GACKT
Another smooth skip from black metal to pop! \o/ But Gackt is epic. Gackt is the shit. Gackt is... Gackt. He is like Chuck Norris. He can do whatever he wants. I just always loved how he is such a grand ego but at the same time he can bring himself down to us normal mortals and actually show that he can have fun too x) His big ego never stopped him from showing some humanity and sense of humor. He looked much better about half a dozen plastic surgeries ago, though, but well it's his face and if he doesn't want it to move it's his business. He looks wonderful without a shirt on though and seeing him in Bochum was absolutely amazingly epic.
Vanilla
I remember when
sherg first tried to get me into jrock and she played me these mixed CDs and whenever Vanilla would come up I'd be all "oh this is the good song what is this called? 8D" and I NEVER learned to remember the name of the song. My brother recognized it before I did, gosh I have such brain damages sometimes. Gackt so can't dance and the video is weird but Vanilla is epic nevertheless. As is this legendary live performance (THOSE PANTS. THE HIPMOVEMENTS! CHACHA~).
Other recommended songs;
♥ Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto (and if I make typos in the names I don't care XD) is probably my favorite song from Gackt ;~; It's happy, it's catchy, it's easy to sing along to (in horrendous Japanese and self-invented words! \o/) and it's one of those feel-good songs for me. Plus amazingly nice to listen to in the car. ...what is wrong with me I even kinda like his horrible shirt there XD He looked good then still. Except the pants. Gdi his pants.
♥ Papa lapped a pap lopped is kind of a weird song but maybe that's exactly why it stole my heart the moment I heard it the first time *laughs* I remember this live performance with orange overalls but I couldn't find it on youtube somehow. Oddly enough this song makes me want to clean... or pack. Or do something I am supposed to do right now.
♥ White Eyes is a live performance too but I like it (and his lives sound so good half the time I think they're playback but then the other half it really does sound genuine so maybe he just is that amazing) even though I'm not sure if I like his hair. And yes that has nothing to do with the song XD I always liked the song and how it's rock and has some edge to it.
I don't know if this should be under Gackt or Hyde but since Gackt was on the list first (it's semi-alphabetical XD) I'm gonna put it here:
♥ Orenji no Taiyou by Gackt and Hyde. You have no idea how much I love this song. I wanted to have Gackt's Crescent album just to have this track XD (don't get me wrong, I love nearly the whole album) I have to admit that even though people consider Gackt the better singer, to me the song was always more about Hyde. I love how his voice is a tiny bit rougher on the edges and well, I am biased anyway since HYDE. The video is kind of cute too. Both Gackt and Hyde can be utterly adorable ;~; There's a version of it with Gackt and Wang Leehom and while I like Leehom, the song just doesn't work for me without Hyde x)
HYDE
Since the ohp seems to be wonky here is the wikipedia site just in case. And Hyde. What do I say about him? ;~; I love him. And he so doesn't look his age most of the time, I can't believe he's over forty already XD He's so tiny too! And watch me babble about his appearance when I can't think of anything else to say! \o/ I really like listening to his voice since he has a kind of soft voice but it also has slight edge to it, and I love the rock-ish songs when he sings. He is also adorable. And I officially have no brain activity.
Season's Call
You can't imagine how much I've fangirled over this music video and this song XD I even made a whole bunch of icons out of the PV just because Hyde just looks that good in it. The song is one of my favorites if not THE favorite from him and I could always listen to it, under any circumstances. My brother probably remembers it too since I forced him to listen to it one night on msn XD I just. I love how his solo material is more rock than L'arc is (though I love so many L'arc songs too) and I usually like the ballads less than songs like this x) Though I'd listen to him sing almost anything.
Other recommended songs;
♥ Hello is again a bouncier song. He has so much make up in the video x) it's one of these basic videos where nothing happens but there's dudes playing music but oh well. It's at least nice to stare at him XD And I love the song so the vid hardly counts.
♥ Horizon is a live performance and the sound quality of the video isn't amazing but it'll do. He tends to have both English and Japanese versions of his songs and while his English is pretty good for a Japanese person, I still prefer the Japanese versions since it feels like he has more confidence to use his voice when singing in a language more familiar to him. Also, the ending of the vid is so cute ;~;
♥ Countdown is probably the heaviest song from him here and when I first heard it I was even a little bit surprised, after I had only heard these soft ballads and the pop-ish stuff from L'arc XD It was a really pleasant surprise though! XD
AYUMI HAMASAKI
At first I only listened to a couple of songs from her since they were fun, but then I downloaded more and realized that hey, I actually like more of her stuff *laughs* I like her voice and her songs are often nicely energetic. I even bought two of her albums recently since I've now resigned to the fact that it's not a passing phase and that I do like her music XD And she's pretty too.
Because of You
The song actually has a cool video too, but every now and again youtube goes on a deleting raid and now there's only little snippets of the video left. I don't think the live version is bad, though, so it's a good substitute. This is one of her heavier songs and while it's not exactly heavy still, it's not all pop either and has some rock guitars and all! I absolutely loved the song from the first moment when I heard it and it's on pretty much all of my mixed CDs XD
Other recommended songs;
♥ Ladies Night is completely different, there's nothing rock in that song but it's more just techno but I love it nevertheless! It would have a cool video too but, yes, it's down too. At least the live version is kind of fun as well XD And honestly, I think it'd be much fun to see her live, the show seems cool.
(there's a severe lack of Ayumi's PVs on youtube...)
LAMB OF GOD
Wow what a style change *laughs* From Japanese pop to American metal. I first heard of Lamb of God when my brother saw them live and afterwards he was such a fanboy he was explaining to me about the gig nonstop and we watched the DVD he had bought (or the special edition of Sacrament with a DVD) and the next thing I knew I was in the shop buying the album as well. Lamb of God is on the heavier side of my taste and probably the heaviest one of the bands I listen to regularly. And they're such cute guys ;~; I doubt they'd take it as a compliment though but who knows XD
Redneck
This is the best music video I have ever seen in my entire life. You have no idea how much I laughed when I first saw it! These guys are absolutely epic x) And when you watch the extra DVD that comes with Sacrament they all turn out to be really nice family fathers *laughs* I think it's absolutely adorable and watching them work was so much fun. Like how the guitarists were throwing ideas at each other, working it into a song. But yes, I love Redneck and it's one hell of a song. The good video just makes it even more epic :D
Other recommended songs;
♥ Walk With me in Hell is one of the songs they record on the bonus DVD I already mentioned and it's cool to get to look at the process, too. The singer puts his all into everything, sometimes to a point when I don't know if it's healthy anymore. But here in the video you can at least see how they have fun with what they do! That's essential if you ask me, only when a band enjoys what they do it can be good. I want to see them live so badly and I am so envious at my brother who already did ;~;
♥ Beating on Death's Door is another favorite of mine although I don't even really know why XD I can rarely explain why I like a song, I just do. It's a little less melodic in a way than the two previous ones, but it has attitude to make up for that ;3
LINKIN PARK
I used to listen to Hybrid Theory a lot when it came out but then I kind of forgot about them for a good while. Then in some fit of nostalgia I wanted to listen to them again and dug out Hybrid Theory again XD I still think that the album is amazing, no questions asked. But I don't like their newer material really. It's listenable but I never got into it really. It's much lamer than Hybrid Theory ever was.
Papercut
Papercut used to be my least favorite before but now that I've listened to them again, I think it's one of my very favorites. They look kind of funny in the video and try to be all hardcore but well x) The song is amazing! That doesn't change even if the vid is kinda unintentionally funny.
Other recommended songs;
♥ Pushing Me Away used to be my favorite originally and I still love it. A friend and I practiced the song so that she did the rap bits and I did the clean vocals and it was quite much fun even if we never really actually did anything with that knowledge XD
♥ Forgotten You only need to listen to the first 3:16 of the video since for some reason it has empty silence for several minutes after the song. It's the only version I found where the beginning isn't cut off though. Forgotten is my favorite song now that I re-found Linkin Park a few years back x) I still knew all the lyrics even though I hadn't listened to it in years! *sings along*
MUCC
MUCC... hmmm what to say. I think it's quite basic rock? Only with Japanese lyrics instead of English, naturally. It's one of these bands I've known for ages and enjoyed listening to but I never really got into the fandom. I know near to nothing about them XD But I often find myself listening to some of their songs and what little I do know about them makes me like them a lot. I still wanna see them live ;~; Such wasted chances and I need to make it up to that once! But usually no one wants to go to concerts with me *laughs* Anyhow.
Saishuu Ressha
I tried several songs and finally this one was the first one that didn't have embedding disabled!damn you youtube *shakes fist* But it's not a bad choice, I enjoy this song a lot! Especially the chorus. One of the things I love the most when it comes to MUCC is that one can sing along to the songs so easily! And by this I don't mean I have the faintest of idea what I'm singing XD But that, along with the groovy rock, makes this one of my favorite Japanese groups :)
Other recommended songs;
♥ Gerbera was one of the first videos I saw from them and a friend of mine was a big fan back then so I was quite curious how they sounded. It's pretty basic rock, and although in many Japanese bands I don't like the singers (nor in many western bands though XD) I kind of like Tatsuro's voice and how he uses it. Gerbera is a good example of their more mainstream rock songs and I like it a hell lot :D
♥ Libra is a little heavier than the other songs and it's one of my favorites. The very beginning is probably my favorite part, even though I love the whole song to bits. Even the video is kind of cool x) I had already forgotten how much I really enjoy the song but this thankfully reminded me of it.
♥ Fuzz is from 2008 but I could've sworn it's more recent *laughs* Somehow to me it's always the "new song" that I love to bits. I remember when it came out, I was listening to the song several times a day every day. It made me want to dance! :D And usually I never dance XD I still think it's my favorite from the album and it never stopped making me want to dance *laughs*
PINK
I've had a thing for Pink for ages now. I love her attitude, the slight edge to her voice and mostly her lyrics too. They're not just stupid, there's thought in them, and that's refreshing. I follow her on Twitter too since I love reading the occasional witty remarks x) I'm not into any other current female pop-singers really, but she makes an exception :3
Cuz I Can
Watching this video actually reminded me that I have one of her DVDs and I didn't watch it yet *laughs* I ordered it but then I had so much school stuff and somehow forgot it! But now it's definitely on top of my "watch these" list! Would be cool to see her live too (am I repeating myself) oh and repeatance reminded me, I love listening to her in the car! I'm Not Dead is perfect for sunny days and long distance drives!
Other recommended songs;
♥ Long Way to Happy is probably my favorite song at least currently. It's not happy, if you listen to the lyrics it's actually quite damn sad, but there is this certain hope in it too. There's this attitude, firm belief in that you will make it, things will get better, even if it will take a long time. And as twisted as it might sound this song always cheers me up and gets me into a good mood. Maybe it's the attitude, who knows. But it's a pick-me-up song for me.
♥ Stupid Girls probably wouldn't be on the list if it wasn't for the absolutely epic video. It's one of the best videos I've ever seen, hands down! I absolutely love all the stabs she's taking at other celebrities and certain things women do to look better x) Her expressions are hilarious too. And especially the car-wash scene! I was laughing out loud while watching the vid again.
♥ U + Ur Hand is another video I absolutely love. Somehow she has a tendency to make videos I appreciate x) Plus I think she looks dashing, too. The red hair is so coooool~ And the white hair. And...yeah the whole vid. I love the song too, even if it's a pretty basic pop song. Doesn't stop me from enjoying it, does it? 8D
♥ Raise Your Glass is... well, do I have to say I love the vid?`And the song, both x) I've posted this in my journal before too when I saw it the first time. *raises her glass* I salute you! The wrestling bits in the video are hilarious, as well as the waking up in bed parts x) Oh scratch that, it's just thoroughly awesome!
RAMMSTEIN
Rammstein is the reason my little brother started studying German XD And one of the reasons I really started liking the language too. The way Till pronounces things is so harsh and clear and while I am aware it's not how most Germans speak, it still sounds so nice. Maybe because Finnish has a strong R and I love every language that does? Who knows XD I think the guys are super cool and their shows are even cooler and their videos, gosh, their videos are epic. Seriously it's one of these bands that only makes good videos XD I also really really want to see them live, damnit. The new album was a disappointment to me. But then again I don't think they'll ever manage to top the awesomeness that is Mutter.
Du riechst so gut
I absolutely love and adore this video to bits and pieces. It hits everything I love, with this kind of mythical and mystical and creepy and even historical feel to it, and I could watch it forever nonstop *laughs* The song is one of my favorites too, especially from the older more techno albums. I love this ;~;♥ So much.
Other recommended songs;
♥ Mann gegen Mann is another epic video x) Do I need to warn you for naked men? Since this video has them. Lots of them. Piles of them! Too bad they actor dudes are a bit too muscular for my taste XDI don't mind seeing their bassist without clothes though *coughs* But even the video aside, the song is basic Rammstein which means I love it :D
♥ Benzin ...would you be surprised if I said it has an epic video? I am just praising their vids nonstop but I do love them XD This looked so cool when they showed it on TV and I could watch it in good quality on big screen x) The song, well, how do you describe Rammstein? This sounds like them.
♥ Mein Herz Brennt is a live version, together with Apocalyptica and fantaken (but the quality is good). The song is one of my favorites, especially the very beginning of it, it's so hypnotizing. As for their lives, they're full of epic stuff. You can see an example here, for one :) That DVD is pretty damn good (and I have it! 8D). And Feuer Frei! is one of my very favorite songs too, love it ;~;♥
RHAPSODY (OF FIRE)
I always thought I wasn't a big fan of power metal and then there was Rhapsody. It's just that, power metal in the very definition of the word, green valleys and dragons and soldiers, magical swords and witches and fighting the evil with the power of good. That's Rhapsody for you :D The guitar-tilulilus are the very essence of this too x) They were formerly known as Rhapsody but then changed it to Rhapsody of Fire. ...and they're probably the only Italian band I could name *laughs*
Emerald Sword
I remember seeing the video of Emerald Sword YEARS ago and my friend and I listened to it a hell lot at one point. She probably watched the vid just to laugh at the singer's beautiful red silk shirt but I love the song too. It's an epic story and so pompous and theatrical and just impossible to be taken too seriously XD But the guys are so adorable and in it with their hearts. Love that. And I was so happy to find this video again on youtube!
Other recommended songs;
♥ Guardians of Destiny isn't as fast of a song as Emerald Sword is. It has this kind of magical feel to it. I love how Rhapsody's songs always seem to tell a story too, with the moods and everything :) Half the time I don't even really remember the lyrics or know what they sing about but the feeling the songs give is special. It's like from a movie! And the song is really good.
SCORPIONS
I love Scorpions ;~;♥ Ever since my brother forced me to listen to Under the Same Sun from Face the Heat, I have been hooked. My brother is really good at that, finding the songs to get me helplessly addicted *laughs* I still think Face the Heat is one of the best albums in the world and Scorpions has so many awesome songs. There are the basic shrieking (okay, high vocals XD) from the early years, then the golden age, then the new ballads. And I like them all, in their own way. Oh the guitars~ This is a good example that the band members don't need to look stunning for the band to be good, too XD Surprisingly I never liked Wind of Change much, even though it's usually their most liked song x) They have so many much better songs too!
Alien Nation
Alien Nation is from Face the Heat and thus one of the first songs I heard/liked from Scorpions. All in all, it's a pretty basic song from them from that era, but gdi do I love it or what? Not long ago
pi_ankh and I listened to the album in the car and I have to say, I had missed it. I always forget how much I love it and then stumble across it again. And hey, I had never seen the video before this, haha XD Something useful comes from making these entries!
Other recommended songs;
♥ Deep and Dark might be my favorite song from them. This is a live version and it's quite long, but it sounds nearly the same live as it sounds as a studio version. Meine's little hat makes me laugh x) But the song, it rocks and I'm happily looping it and listening to it over and over again XD ...only that I just now realized I really don't even recognize the dudes and the only one I can name is Klaus Meine *laughs* I'm a bad fan.
♥ Moment in a Million Years is so beautiful ;~; This is a version I haven't even heard before, to be honest *laughs* I only have the version from the Platinum Collection and it's slightly different from this. Both are damn good though, so it doesn't matter which version you listen to. This one is the version I know much better (a piano version).
♥ No Pain No Gain has attitude, and while the lyrics might not be overly complex they are so true. I was surprised to learn that Face the Heat is from '93, I thought it was an older album, but now it kind of makes sense. Kind of a step into a heavier direction after some ballad-times? Something like that.
SLIPKNOT
Now if you know the old school Slipknot and hate it, don't pass everything I have to say since my favorite songs might not be the most typical picks. There is this divide between the fans of new-Slipknot and old-Slipknot, where the fans of old Slipknot (one of these examples is my brother) think the band got completely ruined after the first two albums (Slipknot and Iowa) and that the two new albums suck major donkey balls. Then there are people who like the new stuff more than the old. Me? I'm something in between. I love the first two albums for their aggressiveness and for being just what they are, angry and in-your-face. I dislike Vol.3 Subliminal verses since I think the album doesn't really have good songs on it, in my opinion. But then the fourth album, All Hope is Gone, is probably my favorite album from them. It doesn't match Slipknot or Iowa in aggressiveness even halfway, but maybe that's why I like it so much. I feel like they needed something new, not to get stuck in the old times. And let's face it, one can't make Iowa again. It's not possible. Soooo yeah. I love both? With the exception of the third album in between XD And Corey Taylor is amazing. I absolutely love his voice, lovelovelove. Me and a friend of mine always drool after his voice (*laughs* and that friend is a straight male XD) and I follow Corey on twitter too since he's absolutely hilarious (like the tweet about toilet paper XD). Yeah. And Joey is amazing ;~;♥
Snuff
Snuff is my absolute favorite on All Hope is Gone and I really recommend watching the video. Even if you don't like the song, the video gives a lot to think about. Together with the lyrics it's haunting, makes you think about the people and the fates, how things turned out and what they went through and yeah. It's like a mini-movie and it's an amazing video. I'm not going to say anything not to spoil any surprises in the video but man, it's one of those vids I could talk about for ages XD And even before I knew there was a video to it I absolutely loved the song and listened to it insanely much.
Other recommended songs;
♥ Wait and Bleed was the first song from Slipknot I ever liked. I was going through a severe Linkin Park phase and a friend of mine (the same friend I've mentioned several times *laughs* she's a big part of how my taste in music developed even though our tastes are almost opposites) loved Slipknot and when she burned me a Linkin Park CD she put one song from Slipknot on it too. Wait and Bleed is pretty typical Slipknot but it's one of the more melodic choruses, so maybe that's why it was easier to approach. Whatever it is, I love the song.
♥ Eyeless has pretty insane lyrics x) Nothing new when it comes to this group, though. Is someone still surprised if I bring up the fact I like listening to this in the car? XD YOU CAN'T SEE CALIFORNIA WITHOUT MARLON BRANDO'S EYES. It's one of the less melodic songs but somehow one of my favorites, too. Maybe it's the lyrics? XD (the lyrics in the vid have some slight errors tho) I adore the guitar sounds~
♥ Left Behind disturbed me a hell lot when I saw it originally. Okay it was longer ago but yeah, I felt disturbed by it although now that I re-watched it it's not that bad x) I love the bits where they're playing in the forest, how it's almost black and white but then their clothes are red. I always love those things x) And the kid eating reminds me of Diru's vids. The song makes me feel uneasy still. Without noticing it I got all tense while listening to it XD Maybe I'm a masochist for loving it regardless.
♥ People=Shit is a live performance and here's to another band I wanna see live :D This is the ultimate "fuck you world I hate everyone" song for those moments when everyone and everything pisses you off *laughs* I think the title tells it all, already! Attitude, they have it.
STONE SOUR
Actually, now that I think of it, Stone Sour and Slipknot could've both made it to my ultimate favorites list too XD But it kind of depends on my mood. Stone Sour is like the little brother of Slipknot XD I know it's a group with roots way back in time before Slipknot but I don't mean that as a sub-band kind of way. I just mean it's less aggressive, less angry, less ...well, teenaged? XD It's rock where Slipknot is (/was) metal. But I enjoy both bands so I don't see the point in comparing them too much, or hating on one when you're a fan of the other. Stone Sour is pretty basic rock, but what does the trick for me is Corey. Have I mentioned I'm addicted to the man's voice? He might not be the best singer classically but holy shit do I love listening to him or what!
Through Glass
I picked it as the first song because it has a video I could embed XD I had a couple of other choices but they'll be in the links. If you expect Stone Sour to sound like Slipknot and then hear this, it's going to be a huge disappointment XD The video is clever though and I like the whole message of the song. Even though while watching the video it always bothers me how Corey has the most ugly hairdo in the whole wide world XD ...or okay maybe not but it so doesn't suit him! Doesn't make the song any less awesome though.
Other recommended songs;
♥ 30/30-150 is for those who are tired of ballads and want something else XD Stone Sour can make very good basic rock too and not all of it is sad and emotional ballads *laughs* it's just that I personally tend to fall for the ballads so I tend to pick them as examples, too XD But this is a good example of the other kind of Stone Sour, which I also enjoy immensely.
♥ Zzyzx Rd. has a name impossible to pronounce so we call it zigazigaroad 8D I absolutely love this song. Lovelovelove. Even now I sat here eyes closed listening to it, holding back tears since gdi it gets me all emotional each time. Do I need to say anything more? This song is one of my all time favorites, all bands included.
♥ Bother is another 100% ballad that absolutely stole my heart the second I heard it. It's from their first album and when I first heard the album I didn't think much of it. Except for this song. I bought the album for this song, too XD And listened to it solely because of this. Nowadays? I enjoy so many songs on the album. So I have this to thank XD I never saw the video before though (I found so many new videos while making these entries XD). And wow, I love that too.
♥ Sillyworld features the same ugly blond hair Corey has in some of the other videos too and it still looks ugly! \o/ And his voice is still so nice to listen to. I'm not a big fan of the video even if it's not that bad either. But I picked it for the song, not the video x) It's not a pure ballad, it has something else too, but I suppose it still counts as one of the ballads XD
And in the end, a couple of random choices!
Piggy D - Roll Call
I really want the album this is from (the Evacuation Plan) and I can't find it on sale anywhere. I have to thank Die because without him I would've never even heard of this man *laughs* And someone (oh god why can't I remember who? D:) on my friends list uploaded me the album and gosh I absolutely love it.
Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World
I love this to bits ;~;♥
Yu Kaina Pikunikku / A Pleasant Picnic in the Greens
MOOMINS~♥ This is a good way to end this massive load of music.
PART I (ULTIMATE FAVORITES) AND PART II (A FINNISH MEDLEY)
If you liked any of this, I can always provide you with more! (There are some uploads here already.)
SO THAT'S IT! FINALLY! 8D This took me WEEKS, literally, and I was always working on it in bits but oh god it took so long so long. And it's so much D: TOO MUCH. But what can I say, it's so hard to pick! I hope there was something good at least. And sorry for the spam!
Boney M. is one of those bands I might be embarrassed loving if I wasn't past embarrassment already XD It's such basic late 70s discopop! But somehow never fails to get me into a good mood nevertheless. I found an old LP from mom and dad's collection that had some of their songs, I think Rivers of Babylon and Rasputin, and (along with Bonnie Tyler) Boney M. was the group I liked the most on those compilations. They had such weird outfits and the booklets of their CDs are full of those pictures x) I think their CD was the first one I ever bought with my own money. Oh sweet memories. Of the members, apparently Maizie was known as super-beautiful but I always thought Marcia was much prettier. And Liz is my ultimate favorite anyway, and she was the main singer. I also loved Bobby ;~;
Sunny is a pretty typical example of their happy songs and it still never fails to make me smile. It just that. Sunny and happy!
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
I remember when
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
♥ Hello is again a bouncier song. He has so much make up in the video x) it's one of these basic videos where nothing happens but there's dudes playing music but oh well. It's at least nice to stare at him XD And I love the song so the vid hardly counts.
♥ Horizon is a live performance and the sound quality of the video isn't amazing but it'll do. He tends to have both English and Japanese versions of his songs and while his English is pretty good for a Japanese person, I still prefer the Japanese versions since it feels like he has more confidence to use his voice when singing in a language more familiar to him. Also, the ending of the vid is so cute ;~;
♥ Countdown is probably the heaviest song from him here and when I first heard it I was even a little bit surprised, after I had only heard these soft ballads and the pop-ish stuff from L'arc XD It was a really pleasant surprise though! XD
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
♥ Walk With me in Hell is one of the songs they record on the bonus DVD I already mentioned and it's cool to get to look at the process, too. The singer puts his all into everything, sometimes to a point when I don't know if it's healthy anymore. But here in the video you can at least see how they have fun with what they do! That's essential if you ask me, only when a band enjoys what they do it can be good. I want to see them live so badly and I am so envious at my brother who already did ;~;
♥ Beating on Death's Door is another favorite of mine although I don't even really know why XD I can rarely explain why I like a song, I just do. It's a little less melodic in a way than the two previous ones, but it has attitude to make up for that ;3
I used to listen to Hybrid Theory a lot when it came out but then I kind of forgot about them for a good while. Then in some fit of nostalgia I wanted to listen to them again and dug out Hybrid Theory again XD I still think that the album is amazing, no questions asked. But I don't like their newer material really. It's listenable but I never got into it really. It's much lamer than Hybrid Theory ever was.
Papercut used to be my least favorite before but now that I've listened to them again, I think it's one of my very favorites. They look kind of funny in the video and try to be all hardcore but well x) The song is amazing! That doesn't change even if the vid is kinda unintentionally funny.
Other recommended songs;
MUCC... hmmm what to say.
I tried several songs and finally this one was the first one that didn't have embedding disabled!
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
♥ Mann gegen Mann is another epic video x) Do I need to warn you for naked men? Since this video has them. Lots of them. Piles of them! Too bad they actor dudes are a bit too muscular for my taste XD
8D). And Feuer Frei! is one of my very favorite songs too, love it ;~;♥
I always thought I wasn't a big fan of power metal and then there was Rhapsody.
Other recommended songs;
Alien Nation is from Face the Heat and thus one of the first songs I heard/liked from Scorpions. All in all, it's a pretty basic song from them from that era, but gdi do I love it or what? Not long ago
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
Other recommended songs;
I love this to bits ;~;♥
MOOMINS~♥ This is a good way to end this massive load of music.
PART I (ULTIMATE FAVORITES) AND PART II (A FINNISH MEDLEY)
If you liked any of this, I can always provide you with more! (There are some uploads here already.)
SO THAT'S IT! FINALLY! 8D This took me WEEKS, literally, and I was always working on it in bits but oh god it took so long so long. And it's so much D: TOO MUCH. But what can I say, it's so hard to pick! I hope there was something good at least. And sorry for the spam!
