Everyone interested in jrock and fanfic, go go go! I won't be able to participate myself, for numerous reasons, but you should check it out if it interests you :)

In other news, Mozilla Firefox has been my loyal companion for years, but now for the past... year or so, it's been acting up so friggin' much I can't take it anymore. My nerves are already thin to begin with, and I'm not going to deal with that kind of extra crap. So I downloaded Google Chrome to see if I like it. Thus far, I don't think it's bad at all. But we'll see, time will tell. I'm just so sick and tired of the frustration FF gives me.

My thesis is... well, going forward. Slowly. I got two pages yesterday and one page today. Which means I'm now at the total of nine pages out of 15. It sounds so little but you wouldn't believe how friggin' slow it is to write this! I have to check every second word from a dictionary, I need to google and search the net when the dictionaries don't have what I need, and I need to come up with new words. It's...quite inventive. To say the least. But I'm getting there.

I also spent the weekend at my family's summer cottage with two friends and it was awesome. Tiring, but awesome! I think we have to do it again once :3 It was so nice to really spend time together with no hurry anywhere. And granny is in such a good shape! I don't even remember when she was last this good. She played cards with us and managed to sit for five hours without needing to rest in between! I didn't even believe she'd get back to this, but I am so happy she did! So relieved, too.

Uhmm what else. I think I go to sauna and then try to work a bit on my werewolf ficcie. It's a slow process, too, but it works kind of as a stress relief and I'm enjoying it x) or then I should finish the mpreg sequel but nnnnnngggggggggggh~

Oh and I don't know why everyone keeps saying it's so hard to edit entries on lj now..? o__O To me it's not that different from before. Different font and looks a bit off but... otherwise it works like before *shrugs*

Wow, that was random. Now I go, for real.

I've never had problems with Firefox before, but I heard Opera is pretty good, too.

Glad to hear your granny's doing so well lately :)

I used Opera before, but it was like... aeons ago in the early stone age XD I don't know what's up with firefox nowadays but I'm not the only one having troubles with it :/

Thank you! I'm so relieved she's feeling better, and so so happy for her! She's been through so much crap.

[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com on September 14th, 2011 07:43 pm (UTC)
Right now I'm kind of using them side by side, but the more I move tabs from ff to chrome, the better this thing seems to run XD Mine is going slowwwwwly but I hope it'll be done soonish :/ Preferably this month. Since I have the second one to finish too before Christmas...

ahahaha they're so precious! XD I know it's supposed to be hardcore and scary and whatnot but it's just FUN! And I love it XD It kind of feels a bit like Obscure-times again, eh? :DDD

sad to hear you're not participating :/

and good luck with your thesis. the road sounds so familiar. not with my architecture thesis, cause that was years ago and different since it's not (only) a written paper and mostly plans, diagrams, concepts, drawings, models bla bla, but with the phd. omg. so slow. and fingering the dictionary a lot. (this sounds so wrong hahaha) and then still not sure if i get it and then rereading and writing thoughts and rereading and really, can't all these philosophers and social scientists and academics please speak english?

yeah

i went to chrome for the same reason. firefox was killing my computer. chrome seems to do the same thing lately. they eat a LOT of CPU and crowd the processes tree, so basically try to keep the tabs at a minimum. (which for me is impossible since i don't have a lot of free time and i tend to open things to read/comment/post/reply to in different tabs and work through them later or so and then i lose them at some points because chrome crashes and then it all goes to crazyland. i'm trying not to think about how many replies i owe lately because of that heh

ah summer cottage sounds so nice. and grandma :). best of health for her :)

I'm not that much into jrock in general, only into Diru, and I don't think I'd be able to name the required five (?) pairings to write/read. Plus, I can't make a commitment with the theses to write, and it'd be unfair if I sign up and then end up not having time to write it :/

haha I can't even finger the dictionary since they're all online dictionaries but I know what you mean. It's so slow, painstaking and it takes ages to get even a little bit of text done. I'm so stressed about this but it's working forward, slowly... so I suppose it'll be alright.

Chrome seems somewhat better but it's not an ideal solution at all :/ I am the same, I open a million tabs to check later or to comment later, and I can't work with just one or two tabs. Paaaaaahhh. Why can't they just work properly without eating so much resources, damnit.

Thank you :) The summer cottage is so nice! Anyone who comes to Finland to visit me is bound to be dragged there! XD Except if it's winter since then... well, one doesn't GET there XD

we actually watched a finnish movie last night (Sauna, a very good and deep movie actually) and i think it's the first time i hear finnish for a long period of time (well, 2 hours at least) and it sounds so interesting. i love nordic languages and though i know finnish is not in the same language tree as say swedish and so on, they all have a strange appeal to me. thought i'd share that cause i thought of you while listening to it
[identity profile] fonulyn.livejournal.com on September 18th, 2011 05:45 pm (UTC)
Aw, that now makes me really happy :) I like the movie a lot and I should watch it again since it's been a while. It was something I didn't expect, definitely.
